শালিখায় বোর্ডের প্রশ্নে ১ম বারের মত নির্বাচনী পরীক্ষা অনুষ্ঠিত

প্রথম বারের মত শালিখার ৩২টি মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ে বোর্ড প্রদত্ত প্রশ্নে নির্বাচনী পরীক্ষা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। প্রতি বছর বিদ্যালয় গুলি নিজস্ব অথবা সমিতি থেকে প্রশ্ন নিয়ে এ পরীক্ষা গ্রহন করত। যার ফলে গনিত ও ইংরেজি বিষয়ের শিক্ষকরা নানা মুখি দুর্নীতিতে জড়িয়ে পড়ত।
কোন কোন সময় প্রশ্ন পত্র আউট হয়ে যেত এসব সমস্যার কারনে চলতি বছর থেকে যশোর শিক্ষা বোর্ড ১০টি জেলার সকল মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ে অভিন্ন প্রশ্নে পরীক্ষা নেওয়ার সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহন করে। সে মোতাবেক ১১ই অক্টেবর ১ম দিন বাংলা ১ম পত্র পরীক্ষা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
বোর্ডের সফটওয়ার জটিলতার কারনে পরীক্ষার ১ম দিকে প্রশ্নপত্র পেতে সাময়িক সমস্যা হওয়ায় পরীক্ষা ৩০ মিনিট থেকে ১ ঘন্টা বিলম্বে শুরু হয়।
এ ব্যাপারে শালিখা উপজেলা মাধ্যমিক শিক্ষা অফিসার মহাকবি সিরাজ-উদ দৌলাহ বলেন খুব শান্তিপূর্ন ভাবে পরীক্ষা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। কেথায় কোন সমস্যার সৃষ্টি হয়নি।
গবেষক শিক্ষক শ্রী ইন্দ্রনীল বলেন বর্তমান পদ্ধতি খুবই ভাল একটি উদ্যোগ । এটি বহাল থাকলে শিক্ষায় দুর্নীতি অনেকটা কমে যাবে read more

যশোরে জঙ্গি আস্তানায় অভিযান শুরু

যশোর শহরের সেন্ট্রাল রোডে জঙ্গি আস্তানা সন্দেহে ঘিরে রাখা বাড়িটিতে অভিযান শুরু করেছে আইন শৃঙ্খলা বাহিনী।
সোমবার (০৯ অক্টোবর) বেলা সোয়া ১১টার দিকে অভিযান শুরু হয়। বাড়িটি থেকে সাধারণ বাসিন্দাদের বের করে আনা হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে পুলিশ।
সকাল সাড়ে ১০টার দিকে সোয়াট সদস্যরা ওই বাড়ির কাছে পৌঁছালে শুরু হয় অভিযানের প্রস্তুতি। মাইকিং করে বাড়ির সন্দেহভাজন বাসিন্দাদের বেরিয়ে আসতে বলা হয়। তার আগেই ভবনের অন্য পাঁচটি ফ্ল্যাটের বাসিন্দাদের সরিয়ে নেওয়া হয়।

Smoking may cause failures in dental fillings

Indulging in drinking alcohol or smoking may not only damage your teeth but also lead to increased incidences of failure in dental fillings, warned researchers.

The findings, led by researchers from the University of Pittsburgh, showed that within two years of the dental procedure, fillings failed more often in patients who drank alcohol, while the overall filling failure rate was higher in men who smoked.
Furthermore, people with a difference in the gene for matrix metalloproteinase (MMP2) -- an enzyme found in teeth-were at increased risk of filling failure.
This could be because MMP2 might be able to degrade the bond between the filling and the tooth surface, potentially leading to failure, the researchers said.

Banking sector in dire straits

The country’s banking sector is in dire straits due to lack of good governance, insiders say.

As many as 13 out of the 48 state-owned, private and specialised banks are plagued with default loans and irregularities in loan disbursement thanks to lax control and monitoring system of the Bangladesh Bank.

Among them, eight are state-owned and specialised banks. The five private banks are Bangladesh Commerce Bank, National Bank, Farmers Bank, NRB and ICB Islamic Bank.

The ICB Islami Bank, for instance, shoulders the burden of the dissolved Oriental Bank’s corruption.

The central bank has not taken any action on the unprecedented incidents centring change of ownership in the private banking sector. On the contrary, it has, in fact, backed these incidents. As a result, panic has gripped the depositors and other stakeholders.

Persons involved in the banking sector said that in full knowledge of the central bank, state-owned BASIC turned into a problematic bank since 2011.read more

The number of new arrivals from Myanmar now stands at 611,000, according to IOM Needs and Population Monitoring report released on Tuesday night, reports UNB.

It said the international and local partners reported that an estimated 2,800 new arrivals have crossed the border since the last situation reported on 5 November.

Popular actress Mousumi thinks the country's film industry lacks a congenial environent for all.

"Some are playing behind the scene, trying to control the artistes. As a result, the industry is suffering. I don't think I have anything to get from this industry anymore," said the National Award winning actor.
